Back then, most of the Brazil-nuts gathered in Cobija’s area of influence were exported as raw material to the city of Belém, Brazil. There was no capability in place to acquire all the Brazil-nuts that were being collected nor was there the necessary labor that could process the Brazil-nuts in Pando, particularly in Cobija. In this regard, investments were made on modern technologies and industrialized systems to process Brazil-nuts, and create job opportunities in the area. HISTORY N The corporation was incorporated in 1989 by a group of 12 investors committed to the modernization of millennial and traditional forms of recollecting and industrializing the Brazil-nut. N A decision was made to build it in Bolivia’s most isolated and depressed area Cobija, Pando, on the border with Brazil.
